Founded in 1977 as Cairns Earthmoving Contractors, the CEC Group boasts a 30-plus year history that has seen it grow from a small civil construction business to a sophisticated, vertically integrated public company. With a 2008 turnover of $208 M and a workforce approaching 400 people in all affiliated businesses, the CEC Group has played a major role in many iconic infrastructure projects throughout North Queensland.

The CEC Group of today has three core business units – property development, construction and materials. Supporting each of these units are a host of complimentary businesses supplying products and services including quarrying, machinery and truck maintenance, building services and bitumen and asphalt spraying to mention a few.

The CEC Group is dynamic in all that it does. The company has solid foundations and a very clear and focused strategy that has evolved with the assistance of an experienced and capable board which is in turn supported by a highly skilled management team.

CEO and co-founder of the CEC Group, Mr. Roy Lavis, is as much a part of the overall operation today as he was over 30 years ago. His vision and drive are continuing to push the CEC Group to achieve exceptional results at every level.
